An established and friendly accountancy practice is recruiting a Senior Payroll professional to take ownership of its payroll function. This is a replacement role for a long-standing team member (10 years in post) and offers excellent stability, autonomy, and long-term prospects. This is a senior, end-of-career-path role with responsibility, trust, and support ideal for someone who enjoys running payrolls without managing a large team.
The Role
- End-to-end management of c. 150 payroll schemes
- Mix of small payrolls and larger, well-supported schemes
- Payroll Manager as the primary system
- One direct report, plus accountant/bookkeeper support when needed
- Strong client contact with local and national businesses
- Hands-on, collaborative culture during peak periods
Practice experience is desirable, but experienced industry payroll professionals with a strong multi-scheme background (200+ payrolls) will also be considered.

- Solid payroll experience (practice or industry)
- Confident managing payrolls independently and meeting deadlines
- Good working knowledge of payroll legislation
- Professional, organised, and comfortable dealing with clients
- Payroll Manager experience beneficial but not essential
