Our client is seeking an experienced Group Accountant (Qualified ACA/ACCA/CIMA), to take ownership of the full finance function across the Group. Reporting directly to the family owners, this is a hands-on, senior role covering everything from detailed day-to-day bookkeeping to multi-entity management accounts, budgeting, and forecasting. Beyond core finance, the role includes responsibility for compliance, insurance, and financial risk management, making this position a key partner to the senior leadership team.
Key Responsibilities
- Financial Operations & Reporting
- Manage the full accounting cycle from transactional processing and bookkeeping through to management accounts and final accounts.
- Maintain accurate ledgers and balance sheet reconciliations.
- Produce timely monthly management accounts for multiple companies.
- Multi-Entity & Divisional Reporting
- Oversee and reconcile separate P&Ls for Vending, Cleaning, Catering & Property divisions.
- Provide clear visibility of performance by division and business unit.
- Wages & Pension
- Oversee Monthly Payroll processing (carried out by external bureau) including NEST pension and PAYE payments.
- Financial Leadership
- Lead cash flow management, budgeting, and forecasting across the Group.
- Maintain robust financial controls and processes.
- Strategic Insight
- Provide financial analysis to support pricing decisions, capital expenditure, and investment appraisals.
- Support branch and divisional profitability analysis.
- Year-End & External Liaison
- Work closely with external accountants on year-end accounts and audit.
- Management Information
- Prepare management reporting packs including KPIs, MI, and detailed cash flow analysis.
- Operational & Compliance Support
- Oversee business insurance, compliance requirements, and financial risk management.
- Provide operational financial support to senior management.
Experience & Qualifications
- Strong all-round accounting background with excellent hands-on bookkeeping skills.
- Proven experience in multi-entity and multi-P&L environments.
- Background in service, distribution, or multi-division businesses preferred.
- Strong technical accounting knowledge.
- Experience with accounting systems such as Opera Pegasus or Sage 50.
- Demonstrated success in budgeting, forecasting, and financial control.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.

- Monday to Thursday 9:00am - 4:00pm
- Friday 9:00am - 3:00pm
