Study Support Offered Our client is looking for an ambitious and detail-focused Assistant Management Accountant to join their growing finance team.
This role is ideally suited to someone with and around two years experience in a purchase ledger, finance assistant or similar accounting role.
The successful candidate will take ownership of the purchase ledger function while developing broader month-end, reconciliation and management accounting skills.
The role will be split between end-to-end purchase ledger ownership and wider finance support, making it an excellent opportunity for a high-calibre early-career accountant who wants to progress into a more rounded management accounting role.
Key Responsibilities Purchase Ledger Ownership Take ownership of the end-to-end purchase ledger process.
Process supplier invoices accurately and efficiently, including high-volume invoice processing (circa 800).
Match invoices to purchase orders and delivery notes, investigating discrepancies where required.
Manage supplier queries professionally and follow issues through to resolution.
Reconcile supplier statements and resolve differences in a timely manner.
Maintain supplier master data with strong attention to detail and control.
Prepare and process supplier payment runs in line with internal approval procedures.
Maintain strong financial controls and support improvements to purchase ledger processes.
Month-End and Wider Finance Support Support purchase ledger month-end close activities.
Support balance sheet and control account reconciliations.
Assist with month-end journals (GRNI reviews and accruals), schedules and supporting analysis.
Provide information and analysis to support the wider finance team.
Support ad hoc finance tasks, reporting and process improvement projects as required.
Skills & Experience Around two years experience in a purchase ledger, finance assistant, assistant accountant or similar finance role.
AAT qualified, studying towards AAT, or committed to continuing professional development in accounting and finance.
Strong numeracy skills and excellent attention to detail.
Confident Excel and Microsoft Office user, including Pivot Tables, lookups and basic formulae.
Self-starter who is comfortable taking ownership of tasks and following issues through to completion.
Confident communicator, able to work effectively with suppliers and internal departments.
