Location: Hybrid 2-3 days onsite at Frimley with regular travel to Guildford, Farnborough

What you could be doing for us:

  • The design of the technical infrastructure to support the whole solution.
  • The production of all supporting designs for inclusion in the LLD and the associated configuration of the solution.
  • The build, commissioning and acceptance of the technical solution.
  • Delivering a coherent and technically integrated solution in line with the requirements.
  • Run, support and attend all appropriate workshops and meetings.
  • Managing the Bill of Materials and ensuring delivery of all items in line with the project schedule.
  • Supervising the installation and commissioning of the infrastructure, including the appropriate sub-contractors.
  • Updating and managing the Bill of Materials with approved changes and updated technical specifications in line with the infrastructure design.
  • Stakeholder management as it pertains to the infrastructure design.

The role is accountable for:

  • The infrastructure design, configuration and transfer of an integrated solution; any design issues are to be highlighted to the SDA immediately.
  • The accuracy, coherence and completeness of the technology solution requirements.
  • The coherence and completeness of the design of the project's infrastructure solution including efficient and effective integration with stakeholders and suppliers' capability.
  • Integrating with the Engineering pillar to ensure that all work is aligned to the appropriate Quality and Engineering standards.
  • Adherence to the Engineering Management Plan and specifically in meeting the solution requirements of the project and adhering to Engineering policies and mandates and reporting progress through engineering metrics.
  • Support the development of the business processes associated with the operation of infrastructure being delivered.
  • The delivery of the technical solution through design, acceptance testing and into live service operation.
  • Provision of support to overall development of the solution.

Essential skills and experience required to be considered:

  • Campus networking experience - design, build and config (typical vendors Dell, Juniper, Palo Alto, Fortinet, Arista).
  • Detailed knowledge of IP networking, DNS, routing, VPN, firewalls.
  • Experience in network design and familiarity with domain control including AD, DNS, NPS.
  • Experience in virtual servers and networking using technologies such as VMWare, Proxmox.
  • Ability to analyse and understand existing designs and requirements.
  • Experience working in handling physical hardware in environments supporting rack build, networking, troubleshooting.
  • Experience working in reference environments assisting in dynamic configuration changes.
  • Experience in the complete development lifecycle using a range of methodologies.
  • A good understanding of working with DevOps and some Ansible expertise.
  • Ability to decompose requirements and formulate designs.
