Salary: Up to £42,950 dependent on skills and experience.
What you’ll be doing:
- Ensure that all aspects of Welder approvals and Welding procedures are up to date and being correctly maintained.
- Interpret standards and specifications in relation to welding and associated processes.
- Aptitude to solve shop floor and production welding related problems.
- Support continuous improvement philosophy and practices within the welding processes.
- Advise Operations on the optimum welding processes to achieve key safety, quality and cost performance measures.
- Collaborate with colleagues across the globe (UK, Australia and Canada) to share best practice and LfE across a range of programmes.
Your skills and experiences:
Essential:
- High level of welding process awareness aligned to good practical welding skills on most welding processes/equipment/techniques.
- An industry recognised qualification in welding technology or willing to work towards.
- Good knowledge of welding processes in a shipbuilding, manufacturing or similar heavy engineering environment.
Desirable:
- Capability to understand weld inspection and NDE techniques.

The BAE Systems Welding Engineering Team:
The BAE Systems Welding Engineering Team is responsible for ensuring that the business is fully compliant with all relevant standards and also for driving improvements in our welding processes. Welding is one of the core processes at the heart of our business and we have recently invested in new state of the art robotic welding systems. We currently have a team of 5 engineers but are looking to expand the team to support the Shipbuilding programmes on the Clyde. In this role you will have the opportunity to enhance your skills and knowledge by helping to develop and optimise as well as to help shape our welding processes to support both current and future programmes.
