What you'll be doing:
- Prepare and deliver Mechanical design presentations
- Produce technical documentation in line with company guidelines
- Attend and contribute to design review discussions/meetings
- Have an understanding of the broader BAE Systems LCM process
- Take part in supplier/stakeholder meetings
- Assist Engineering Governance and Requirements Capture activities
- Develop a broader knowledge of UWBA (Underwater Battlespace & Autonomy) products and systems outside of the mechanical domain
- Engage with different engineering disciplines and competencies within the local project and BAE Systems more broadly
- Design and perform mechanical testing methods
- Establish and build positive working relationships within the business, suppliers, and stakeholders
- Undertake continuous professional development as required
- Support the development of other early careers engineers within the discipline
Your skills and experiences:
- Degree in Mechanical Engineering and understanding of mathematical and physical principles
- Applies Mechanical Engineering principles for providing design solutions
- Able to contribute expertise in Mechanical Engineering aspects
- Good all-round Mechanical Engineering capability and interest in developing a specialist skill
- Working towards CEng status is desirable

The Torpedos Mechanical Engineering team:
The mechanical engineering team's primary role is to support the new development opportunities and in-service support of heavyweight and lightweight torpedoes for the UK Royal Navy and export customers. The team is involved in many phases of the engineering lifecycle from concept development, detailed design, and disposal activities of torpedo hardware and items of support and test equipment used for integration and maintenance. Skills, knowledge, and experience of the team include specialist mechanical design, build, test, trials activities, and systems engineering support to the wider enterprise.
