The predicted salary is between 36000 - 60000 £ per year.

Location: Portsmouth, Filton, Yeovil, Plymouth, Frimley, Farnborough, Weymouth, HMNB Clyde with the ability to travel. We offer a range of hybrid and flexible working arrangements – please speak to your recruiter about the options for this particular role.

Salary: Negotiable depending on skills and experience

What you’ll be doing:

  • Ensuring that there is timely and consistent advice, support, assurance and governance of SHE standards and legislation to support all activities across the organisation.
  • Supporting in the development and embedding of an improved safety culture within the Submarines business and support the SHE improvement programme.
  • Enabling the build operations teams through the SHE plan and committee framework. Development, governance and assurance of the process, provision of data in relation to risk assessments accident statistics etc.
  • Supporting the risk cells through SHE plans as the conduit for risk reduction projects.
  • Focusing on the transition from reactive to proactive development of LfE process to left shift SHE and enable a zero accident focus.
  • Ensure professional and accountable interface with all stakeholders including all functional leads, regulators, contractors, and customers.
  • To ensure all applicable aspects of the Safety, Health and Environment Operational Plan and Strategy is delivered to schedule across all submarine sites.
  • Provide support to audits and accident / near miss investigations, producing comprehensive reports with root cause analysis.

Your skills and experiences:

Essential

  • Experience of working as a SHE professional in a high risk environment.
  • Knowledge of SHE Regulations, Approved Codes of Practice and Guidance.
  • Evidence in previous roles of driving safety culture, safety improvements and investigations.
  • NEBOSH Certificate or equivalent.
  • Evidence of implementing wellbeing improvement.

Desirable

  • Audit and investigation skills.
  • Experience of working in a Manufacturing, Production or Construction environment.
  • Ability to deliver training / coaching.

The SHE team:

As a SHE Advisor, you will be involved in one of the most exciting engineering programmes in the UK, providing professional and accurate SHE advice to ensure safe systems of work in the construction and delivery of both Astute and Dreadnought Submarines and the development of future products. This role will provide an opportunity to gain a breadth of knowledge across various areas of the build and or non-build delivery organisation whilst providing an opportunity to develop SHE professional skills and experience in a high-risk environment. We offer relocation support packages across all Submarines roles, subject to meeting eligibility criteria.
