Job Description

Job Title: Project Accountant

Location: Surrey – Guildford. We offer a range of hybrid and flexible working arrangements – please speak to your recruiter about the options for this particular role

Salary: £37,500 to £42,500 commensurate with skills and experience

What you’ll be doing:

\\n

    \\n
  • Deliver and review outputs of project accounting financial processes and ensure appropriate consideration of IFRS15 revenue recognition in the set-up of all new projects and use of accounting structures to optimise financial information
  • \\n

  • Work collaboratively with BU stakeholders to ensure the requirements for financial forecasting on projects are understood and delivered and own the monthly orderbook reconciliation process and associated analysis of backlog and secured revenue profile
  • \\n

  • Ensure there is an appropriate process for using project forecasts to inform the trading of project revenue and gross margin with review and validation with business stakeholders
  • \\n

  • Manage month-end process to create project and business area P&L, BS and Cash Flow and present this information to leaders
  • \\n

  • Ensure insightful financial reporting of project performance using the SSR and other reporting mechanisms as appropriate
  • \\n

  • Review first draft financial / management reporting for use with business stakeholders and provide support to Finance Business Partners in terms of historic financials and inputting into financial models
  • \\n

  • Oversee interface into SSFO team to ensure bills raised in a timely manner; work with business stakeholders to drive cash collection
  • \\n

  • Take ownership and responsibility for reviewing/approving reconciliations including DI BS recs, order book, project and business area financial reconciliations (e.g. working capital, SSR)
  • \\n

  • Qualified/Part Qualified member professional accounting body (ACA, ACCA, CIMA)
  • \\n

  • Experience of Project Finance and strong understanding of financial forecasting and reporting processes
  • \\n

  • Knowledge of relevant accounting standards (IFRS / GAAP), incl. IFRS15 revenue recognition
  • \\n

  • Recognises best practice in applying financial controls
  • \\n

  • Experience of using MRPs or ERPs (e.g. SAP, Infor LN, Oracle) and financial reporting, forecasting and analytical tools (e.g. SAP BPC / SAC, Cognos, Tableau

This role is based within CORDA which forms part of the Data & Digital area within the Defence business unit in Digital Intelligence. CORDA is a growing consultancy business, specialising in delivering consultancy and analytical solutions to internal BAE Systems and external customers. We work across a range of sectors including defence, transport, security and policing.

As a Project Accountant within the Project Finance team you will have responsibility for ensuring the delivery of timely, accurate and insightful project and management financial information to business and finance stakeholders. You will partner effectively with Business Unit Delivery leads and BU Finance Business Partners to ensure that accounting and reporting of project performance is efficient and effective.
