Overview
BAE Systems Land (UK) is seeking a Product Safety Engineer to support our engineering team in delivering safe, compliant products within the defence sector. You will play a key role in ensuring product safety through hazard identification, risk assessment, and compliance with MOD safety standards.
Responsibilities
- Develop and maintain Safety & Environmental Case (SEC) documentation.
- Create and manage Product Hazard Logs.
- Conduct safety reviews of engineering designs to ensure alignment with internal frameworks and MOD safety standards (e.g., Def Stan 00-056, DSA 03.OME).
- Support project teams with safety-related input for bids and designs.
- Perform hazard analysis techniques including FMEA and FTA.
- Contribute to the delivery of conforming, safe products.
Qualifications
- Degree (or equivalent) in a relevant engineering discipline
- Demonstrated ability to produce technical safety reports and ALARP arguments
- Familiarity with UK MOD standards (Def Stan 00-056, DSA 03.OME)
- Experience with the engineering lifecycle
- Strong communication skills with the ability to convey technical safety information to varied audiences.
