What you’ll be doing:
- Developing FCAS computing system deployment strategies and designs for products, while leading key activities as part of an international team responsible for delivering computing hardware and software solutions that directly support GCAP
- Acting as the product development interface, collaborating across national and international FCAS organisations. Building and forging relationships with internal teams, external customers, industry partners, and suppliers in the UK and internationally, including Japan and Italy
- Representing BAE Systems in customer, partner, and supplier meetings, identifying opportunities for collaborative working across engineering, scheduling, and cost challenges
- Balancing business and customer requirements, addressing issues with agility, and positively influencing product strategy, schedule adherence, and optimisation of engineering and business outcomes
Your skills and experiences:
Essential
- Ideally educated to degree level in a STEM discipline (or HND/HNC equivalent) or able to demonstrate equivalent professional experience
- Proven knowledge of Systems Engineering and the Engineering Lifecycle, with experience applying this in integrated platform environments which may include safety and/or cyber security activities
- Proven experience working with stakeholders beyond the immediate team, ideally across both national and international contexts, with strong interpersonal and influencing skills and the ability to build and maintain trusting relationships with stakeholders at all levels
- Practical experience contributing to complex computing solutions such as systems management, avionics/IMA-based solutions, systems integration, safety, cyber security, or comparable large-scale technical programmes
Desirable
- Knowledge and experience of Object-Oriented Design and Model-Based Engineering tools and techniques would be advantageous
- Awareness of engineering and business processes, with an understanding of the impact of decisions on time, cost, and quality, and the ability to support timely and accurate performance reporting

The BAE Systems FCAS Computing Team
Within the BAE Systems FCAS Computing team, we provide leadership and SQEP capabilities into the multi-national Global Combat Air Programme endeavour that is expected to be a key contributor to UK defence for 30+ years. We utilise a wide range of specialist engineering knowledge in our work, which includes the opportunities in architecting/concepting, MBSE, cryptography, CEH, cyber and secure networking. This team provides you with the opportunity to develop and enhance your skills and knowledge, with the potential to lead into more senior technical and managerial positions within a global business. As a key member of the team, you will work closely with the Edgewing teams, contributing to secure and resilient system designs while collaborating across multiple disciplines.
The position is based at our Warton site, with regular travel to other BAE Systems locations across the UK and to customer and industry partner sites in the UK, Italy, and Japan. This provides a unique opportunity to work on high-profile, internationally significant projects, gaining exposure to cutting‑edge technology.
