Job Title: Principal Electrical Calibration Engineer

Location: Barrow-In-Furness. We offer a range of hybrid and flexible working arrangements – please speak to your recruiter about the options for this particular role.

What you’ll be doing:

  • Perform and supervise high level calibration / repair of electrical test, measurement and diagnostic equipment (TMDE) including resource management and calibration workload signoff
  • Write, review, and approve calibration procedures and measurement uncertainty budgets
  • Take part in UKAS (ISO 17025) audits and quickly achieve UKAS signatory status
  • Deliver specific, target driven on the job training / experiential leaning to apprentices / lesser experienced team members
  • Professional communication with technical stakeholders including consultation on new measurement technologies

Your skills and experiences:

Essential:

  • Extensive experience in a precision Electrical metrology laboratory environment
  • Understanding of quality systems & standards (ISO 17025 / ISO 9001)
  • Relevant academic qualification (STEM Degree, HNC/HND or equivalent)

Desirable:

  • Existing UKAS signatory status for Electrical Calibration
  • Experience in creation of measurement uncertainty budgets to ISO 17025 level
  • Experience in use of automation software (Fluke Metcal, Met/Track, Met/Teams, Labview)
  • Experience in Mechanical / Dimensional / Temperature calibrations

The (ICS Electrical) team:

The calibration department currently supports 30,000 pieces of equipment per year, ranging from traditional analogue equipment through to state-of-the-art digital systems. ICS Electrical focuses the calibration of TMDE capable of making AC/DC voltage, current, resistance, inductance, capacitance, and time & frequency measurements. ICS Electrical supports calibrations in a dedicated laboratory as well on site around the Barrow Submarines Site and Walney Aerodrome. We offer relocation support packages across all Submarines roles, subject to meeting eligibility criteria.
