What You’ll Be Doing:
- Using the CAD tool to produce 3D models of pipe routing systems, HVAC and mechanical equipment integration and parts/BoM development.
- Producing 2D drawing outputs/diagrams to a demanding schedule to support the manufacturing and production teams in product build and delivery.
- Developing and maintaining working relationships with interfacing teams and team members.
- Working with the client to produce an integrated design that meets their expectations and agreed set of requirements.
Your Skills And Experiences:
- Understanding of pipe routing systems as well as 3D model integration in a mechanical background.
- Experience of Mechanical design and/or integration working through various stages of design, output and build of a product.
- Previous Designer/Draughtsperson skills.
- Experience and knowledge of CAD packages.
- HNC/ONC or degree level qualification in relevant STEM subject.

The Submarines Team:
Working in the Mechanical Designer discipline, the Principal Designer role consists of 3D modelling (design and integration) of various mechanical routing systems in the submarine design using CAD. 3D models are to be matured as required to then produce a 2D drawing output. The role also includes construction of a bill of materials for your specific area in the Submarine design. As a Principal designer you will report into a Project Leader and you will be working in a team of other Designers at various levels of experience who will support you in your development. We also offer two different programmes with various Hybrid working options. We offer relocation support packages across all Submarines roles, subject to meeting eligibility criteria.
