Job Title: Mechanical Project Engineer

Location: Portsmouth Naval Base

Salary: Up to £42,000 (depending on skills and experience)

What you\’ll be doing:

  • Involved in a key role in integrating a complex warship upgrade, delivering command confidence in the Power & Propulsion systems of the T45 Destroyers
  • Ensuring engineering integrity is maintained through the embodiment of a complex modification across multiple platforms
  • Providing on-site support to oversee delivery across multiple Naval Platforms
  • Supporting the effective delivery of change in configuration and carrying through engineering best practice to subsequent embodiment periods
  • Surveying, and resolving design and integration issues that arise through embodiment and commissioning / regeneration

Your skills and experiences:

  • Knowledge of Mechanical and Fluid systems including Diesel Generators and auxiliary systems including: intakes/exhausts, fuel, sea water systems, HVAC etc
  • Strong collaboration skills as you will be liaising with stakeholders across Portsmouth Naval Base to support the resolution of design, integration and materials queries, and supporting progressive assurance activities with the MOD and other approval authorities
  • Relevant engineering qualification, engineering degree or equivalent

The Warship Design Authority team:

The Warship Technical Authority is a service provided by Maritime Service Asset Management. Asset Management provides through life support the Royal Navy and foreign customers in the management of vessel availability and capability. The Warship Technical Authority proves technical expertise through maintenance, upkeeps and capability enhancements for the full project lifecycle, from concept to delivery. It supports the Royal Navy\’s QEC Class Aircraft Carriers, T45 Destroyers, T23 Frigates, HUNT Class Mine Countermeasures Vessels and Offshore Patrol Vessels. There are significant opportunities for the expansion of this service in both the UK and export markets.
