What you'll be doing:
- Produce engineering drawings, data and documentation to facilitate the manufacture, installation, testing, commissioning, fault diagnosis, maintenance, overhaul and removal of electrical and data systems on maritime vessels.
- Work on propulsion machinery, weapons, sensors, and auxiliary systems (such as water, air conditioning, electronic equipment including programmable logic controllers, power generation and distribution).
- Gain knowledge and expertise of the design and use of electrical, electronic and combat systems to ensure safe embodiment of Capability Insertions.
- Office‑based drawing and document research, along with surveys and validation of systems onboard complex warships.
What Qualification will you get?
- Level 4 Apprenticeship Certificate Engineering (Manufacturing Technician Apprenticeship Standard).
- Higher National Certificate in Engineering.

Export Control/Security:
Please be aware that many roles at BAE Systems are subject to both security and export control restrictions. These restrictions mean that factors such as your nationality, any nationalities you may have previously held, and your place of birth can restrict the roles you are eligible to perform within the organisation. All applicants must as a minimum achieve Baseline Personnel Security Standard. Many roles also require higher levels of National Security Vetting where applicants must typically have 5 to 10 years of continuous residency in the UK depending on the vetting level required for the role, to allow for meaningful security vetting checks.
Qualification requirements:
- 5 GCSEs (or equivalent) at grade 9-4/A*-C which must include Maths & English & a Science/Technical Subject AND 1 of the following:
- 3 A-levels (or equivalent) at grade C or above. 1 subject must be Maths and 1 subject must be in Engineering or a Science/Technical subject.
- An equivalent level 3 vocational qualification (must be a STEM related subject that aligns to the scheme/area you are applying for and worth a minimum of 96 UCAS points).
