Overview

Graduate Naval Architecture Engineer role at BAE Systems

Location: Scotstoun (Glasgow). This is a permanent contract with a 7th September 2026 start date. Salary: £34,000 + £2,000 Welcome Bonus. Hybrid and flexible working options are offered, with the expectation to attend site 3-4 days per week.

Industry: Defence and Space Manufacturing. Employment type: Full-time. Seniority level: Internship (graduate role).

Note: Many roles at BAE Systems are subject to security and export control restrictions. All applicants must meet Baseline Personnel Security Standard; higher levels of vetting may apply depending on the role.

Responsibilities

  • Wholeship integration, providing engineering support through build
  • Structural design, including through production
  • Hull design and performance modelling to meet customer requirements
  • Stability modelling through maturation of design and build
  • Integration of seamanship and outfitting equipment into ship systems
  • Supporting the identification of safety hazards and the assessment and mitigation of safety risk

Qualifications

As a minimum requirement you’ll need to have obtained, or be predicted to obtain, a 2.2 in your Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Naval Architecture, Ship Science, Marine Technology, Marine Engineering or Offshore Engineering.
