During this 6 year programme you will be key in supporting the business through its decision making and plans for future growth within Head Office which supports all our BAE Systems sectors in the UK, giving you the opportunity to make a rewarding contribution to the work we do. With guidance from experienced lawyers you will develop into qualified solicitors with a broad understanding of various aspects of the law and how these fit into the wider business organisation. You will support the provision and delivery of legal advice to key stakeholders within the wider business. You will conduct routine legal research and present findings to others within the business. You will get involved with various aspects of a legal role developing legal and business acumen.
What Qualification Will You Get?
LLB Law Degree SQE1 and SQE2. This is delivered by BPP with online sessions. Please be aware that many roles at BAE Systems are subject to both security and export control restrictions. These restrictions mean that factors such as your nationality, any nationalities you may have previously held, and your place of birth can restrict the roles you are eligible to perform within the organisation. All applicants must as a minimum achieve Baseline Personnel Security Standard. Many roles also require higher levels of National Security Vetting where applicants must typically have 5 to 10 years of continuous residency in the UK depending on the vetting level required for the role, to allow for meaningful security vetting checks.
Qualification requirements:
- 5 GCSEs at grades A-C (9-4), including Maths and English AND one of the following:
- ABB at A Level (128 UCAS points) or equivalent, OR
- Between 96-127 UCAS points PLUS a pass in the BPP admissions test, OR
- Completion of another relevant level 3 apprenticeship programme.
The BAE Systems plc Legal Function provides generalist and specialist legal advice across the business, manages all aspects of legal risk and, by understanding the needs of the business, provides legal solutions that enhance and protect the Company and support the Group objectives. The mission of the Legal Function is to: "build an inseparable relationship with the business by understanding its needs and delivering legal solutions that are truly valuable. We will offer a world class legal service and deliver solutions that enhance and protect the value of the company".
150 lawyers, 11 Company Secretariat professionals (London), 10 Patent Attorneys, 140 Export Control legal and regulatory specialists working across the globe, as a full-service function, with teams operating within each business along with a group of specialist lawyers located in the Company's head office.
