What you’ll be doing:
- Line management responsibility of a small team discharging a variety of compliance and improvement work
- Driving continuous improvements through close collaboration with cross-functional teams across the Air Sector to enhance operational efficiency, compliance and performance
- Working to ensure that export control policies, procedures, processes, toolsets are established, implemented, maintained and updated to reflect any regulatory changes
- Acting as a point of contact for the respective capability, understanding key programme deliverables and export licensing requirements, collaborating with project and shared service teams to develop and manage solutions to enable delivery
- Supporting the implementation and management of the export control toolset strategy across Air including in relation to risk identification and management; audit and assurance activities (including internal and external); and the timely updates and completion of information required
- Supporting corporate/internal/external audits and closure actions where appropriate and working with the compliance team to support investigation of any potential breaches of export control regulations
- Working to ensure a robust performance culture within the export control community where good performance is recognised and under performance is managed appropriately
Your skills and experiences:
Essential:
- Previous experience of managing a team
- A working knowledge of business processes & procedures with excellent written, presentation and IT skills
- Experience in one of the following functional areas: Legal, Export Control, Procurement, Commercial, Project Management, Engineering, Manufacturing, Supply Chain or Logistics
- A high level of self-motivation, proactivity and flexibility, with the ability to operate independently of direct management
- Able to balance sometimes conflicting priorities and respond to tight timescales whilst keeping all stakeholders engaged
- Able to manage and work effectively with a continuous improvement mind-set
- Ability to develop and manage relationships with a broad stakeholder network (both internal & external to BAE Systems) at all levels
Desirable:
- Educated to degree level (equivalent will be considered)
- A working knowledge of US & UK export control regulations

The Operations Centre Team:
The Operations Centre Team within Export Control plays a crucial role in delivering the Air Export Control Compliance strategy. Working closely with Export Control leadership, this team manages and develops efficient toolsets that ensure compliance and drive effective practices across the business.
They provide comprehensive support for activities such as improvements (including visits to other BAE sites), training, data and toolset management, sanctions, screening, material tracking, and insider threat management, while also resolving programme issues and facilitating collaboration with various export control capabilities to maintain operational excellence and compliance.
