Salary: Starting from £23,493 per annum with annual progression through the scheme duration.

What You’ll Be Doing:

  • Materials engineers ensure that materials used in our submarines are fit for purpose, in terms of product innovation, performance, failure diagnosis, operational management, and the positive advancement of materials science.
  • In the Materials Technology Team, you would become part of a dedicated group of expert metallurgists, welding engineers, and non‑metallic material specialists with extensive qualifications and experience.
  • Establish material strategies and policies that govern all submarine‑related activities while addressing materials challenges across various programs and related business sectors.
  • Explore additive manufacturing, spearheading research initiatives aimed at harnessing and advancing innovative techniques for incorporation into submarine construction processes.

Qualification Requirements:

  • 5 GCSEs (or equivalent) at grade 9‑4/A*‑C which must include Maths & English & a Science/Technical Subject AND 1 of the following:
  • 3 A‑levels (or equivalent) at grade C or above. 1 subject must be Maths and 1 subject must be in Engineering or a Science/Technical subject OR
  • An equivalent level 3 vocational qualification (must be a STEM related subject that aligns to the scheme/area you are applying for and worth a minimum of 96 UCAS points).
