BAE Systems are currently recruiting for an Oracle Database Engineer at our Christchurch site. This long-term appointment is a complement to the existing 45 strong team that provides support to a fully integrated command and control system for the MoD. This exciting systems & software programme covers many disciplines including design, development, installation, implementation, integration, acceptance, training and logistics support – it is run solely from our Christchurch site for delivery to our customer at various MoD locations.
The candidate must hold a minimum of SC clearance without caveats and an ability to attain DV clearance in due course. To fulfil this practical and ‘hands on’ role, it would be beneficial for the candidate to be qualified to diploma or degree level in an engineering discipline, or equivalent in experience.
Typical duties:
- The candidate should have an existing, proven knowledge of the following:
- The systems development lifecycle, from design through to test
- The development processes (e.g. requirements, design, specification, implementation, acceptance testing), and development tools
Essential / Desirable skills:
- A team working culture
- Innovation and problem-solving skills, with a holistic view to implementation
- Interpersonal and communication skills. In particular, the candidate will show the confidence to liaise with customer and user representatives to discuss systems technical issues.
- Awareness of Risk Management
