Overview
Responsibilities
- Installation of Information Technology and Telecommunications equipment and cabling into a reference facility in Christchurch, and at customer sites.
- Installation and termination of a variety of types of cable (multi-core, coaxial, fibre-optic, cat x and power).
- Assembly and installation of desks and racks.
- Installation of cabling and equipment into and onto them.
- Read and interpret technical drawings, cabling diagrams, technical documentation and work instructions.
- Safety electrical inspection and test of new and in-service electrical equipment and management of test and inspection records.
- Management of the calibration of tools and instruments.
Qualifications
- Modern Apprenticeship – NVQ Level 3 or equivalent.
- City & Guilds Level 3 Award in the In-Service Inspection and Testing of Electrical Equipment (2377-77).
- Relevant experience in Information Technology, Telecommunications or Industrial installation environment.
- An ability to implement installations in accordance with provided method statements and drawings.
- Understanding and application of all assessments e.g. Risk, PUWER and COSHH.
- Earthing of equipment and termination of cables to relevant standards as well as testing of installed cabling.

The Installation team BAE Systems are currently recruiting for an Installation Engineer, with Christchurch as a home site, and frequent travel to Greater London and Buckinghamshire.
