As a Human Factors Specialist supporting the TRINITY programme, you will report to the HFI Manager and assist them in delivering User-Centred Design and Integration activities. This could include assessing Commercial-Off-The-Shelf equipment against system requirements/user needs; engaging with users to understand their goals and tasks; conducting detailed analyses to understand cognitive workload and human error; anthropometric assessment and workspace/workstation design; working with other engineering functions and disciplines to support their tasks.
Typical Duties
- Support Vigilant lead HFI specialist in the conduct of human factors activities and integration of HF into the TRINITY design.
- Work with end user groups and HF stakeholders in workshops, trials and User-Centred Design activities.
- Assess prototypes/mock-ups of TRINITY hardware and software solutions.
- Conduct analyses such as task analysis, human error analysis, usability and workload assessments.
- Support Integration Testing and verification activities.
- Produce reports and input to customer deliverables.
Knowledge
At least five years’ experience of applying Human Factors methods in defence or a safety-critical industry.
Skills
Experience applying Def Stan 00-251 and working within a multi-disciplinary team on complex system integration and development projects.
Qualifications
A recognised Bachelor’s or Master’s degree or equivalent qualification in Human Factors, Ergonomics, Psychology or Engineering (with specific Human Factors Experience). Registered membership of the Chartered Institute of Human Factors (or eligibility for CIEHF Chartership via an equivalent body).
