What you'll be doing:

  • Collaboratively work with multi-functional teams to design and develop low signature equipment, systems and the whole platform, by agreeing technical requirements, assessment methodologies and acceptance criteria.
  • Supporting the generation of acoustic, electromagnetic and non-acoustic signature reports at key review stages of the submarine design.
  • Reviewing of system design documentation to ensure that electromagnetic and non-acoustic signature requirements have been addressed.
  • Identifying and development of modelling work packages to predict electromagnetic and non-acoustic signature performance.
  • Collaborating with the Stealth Engineering Test team to develop test procedures and analysis in test cells to develop acoustic, electromagnetic and non-acoustic signature management features, including the design of appropriate test rigs.
  • Interpreting acoustic, electromagnetic and non-acoustic measurement and assessment of submarine machinery at factory and on board, ensuring that signature levels are suitable to maintain the stealth requirements.
  • Supporting large scale acoustic, electromagnetic and non-acoustic signature trials during major commissioning activities.

Your skills and experiences:

Essential:

  • Qualified to Degree level in Maths, Physics, Oceanography, Engineering, or associated STEM degree.
  • Knowledge of the principles of acoustic, electromagnetism.
  • Knowledge of stealth technology development or ship/submarine signature technology.
  • Requirements management.

Desirable:

  • Knowledge of submarine or naval engineering.
  • Using DOORS.
  • Qualified to postgraduate in Maths, Physics, Oceanography, Engineering, or associated STEM degree.
