Location: Barrow-in-Furness - Hybrid (2 days onsite per fortnight dependent on business needs)

What you'll be doing:
- Develop and manage requirements and acceptance criteria specific to a system or product and/or across a system of systems, platform or programme.
- Understand the contractual and performance requirements for various systems, and support the definition and associated acceptance criteria and events through design, build, integration, installation and commissioning activities.
- Produce documentation required to support the design review process, including: diagrams; technical specifications; supporting calculations; design evidence and justifications.
- Review relevant supplier documentation, technical manuals, electrical schematics, general arrangements, Interface specification and ensure it is captured and recorded appropriately.
- Ensure design proving evidence is comprehensive, captured within the requirements management tools and has been endorsed by the appropriate level of authority.
- Ensure compliance against contractual requirements and that work is undertaken in accordance with company, safety, environmental, contractual and local business processes, standards, procedures and documentation.
- Undertake design reviews and presentations to customers.
- Provide technical support to integrated performance and acceptance activities, including acceptance of equipment from suppliers through to system acceptance by the customer.
- Provide support to the Certificate of Design activities appropriate to the discipline and articulate and present complex technical argument clearly, logically and simply.
- Deliver technical input and engineering solutions in support of build activities, defect resolution and change management.
Your skills and experiences:
- BEng (Hons) / MEng or equivalent.
- Working towards professional registration.
- Technical report writing skills.
- Demonstrable experience of engineering lifecycle.
- Knowledge and experience in defence standards whilst not essential would be an advantage.
- System calculations, modelling and analysis.
- Understanding of at least one of the following areas:
- Instrumentation and control system theory including PID control.
- Electrical circuits design, EMC precautions and power supply characteristics.
- Safety Integrity Levels and BS EN 61508 or 61511.
- Control panel detail design.
- Fieldbus technology (Profibus/Profinet).

The Centralised Control and Instrumentation Team:
An excellent opportunity has arisen for a Senior Engineer - Electrical Engineering (Control and Instrumentation) working within the Centralised Control and Instrumentation Team. This role will be working on the SSNA program and the next generation submarine design.
The Senior Engineer shall provide support to the Principal Engineers and/or external specialists during development, analysis, integration and verification of platform control and instrumentation systems. In this role you will be involved in leading analysis and the production of technical reports and team deliverables, such as managing and maturing operator control console design to meet defined design criteria and programme demands.
We offer relocation support packages across all Submarines roles, subject to meeting eligibility criteria.
