Overview The Electrical Power Systems Definition team: Working on the UK\’s next-generation SSN design that incorporates technology from the UK, Australia and the United States you will be part of the Electrical Power team who are responsible for leading a team of engineers in defining the system elements required to feed into the submarine design and build process, including design documentation, spatial modelling and build outputs. This role will provide you with an opportunity to travel to various locations throughout the UK, including various BAE, customer and supplier sites. We offer relocation support packages across all Submarines roles, subject to meeting eligibility criteria.
Responsibilities Leading & managing an engineering team to deliver the functional design and definition of Electrical Power Systems equipmentManaging the processes and reviews of technical documentationManaging associated technical risks, assumptions and dependenciesProviding advice on electrical power technical aspects across a broad range of engineering disciplinesEngaging with customers and suppliers to provide solutions to complex problemsTaking a leading role by guiding the team through the systems definition processProviding leadership and mentoring of more junior team members to ensure the necessary capability and skills developmentChartership or working (or prepared to work) towardsEngineering degree or HND with substantial experience in Electrical Engineering design/developmentExperience of design/development of power systems (concept through to detailed design)Significant knowledge of AC and DC electrical power systemsStrong analytical and problem solving skillsTeam Leadership experience
Qualifications & Experience Engaging with customers and suppliers to provide solutions to complex problems
Desirable Knowledge of defence standardsExperience of Marine Electrical SystemsExperience of working with engineering life cycle
