Salary: Starting from £14,527 – £23,493 per annum dependent on age, with annual progression through the scheme duration.
What you’ll be doing:
- To support learning and development, you will work with experienced teams on tasks and projects through a rotation of placements.
- Communicate security risks and issues to business managers and other stakeholders and then apply and maintain specific security controls as required by organisational policy and local risk assessments.
- Supporting incidents and vulnerability management.
- Support the investigation of minor security breaches in accordance with established procedures.
- Assist users in defining their access rights and privileges.
- Perform non-standard security administration tasks and resolve security administration issues.
- Provide advice and guidance to business stakeholders on security best practice and application of security policies.
- Gather and analyse data and prepare reports to feed information back.
- Conduct and support security risk assessments and facilitate remedial activities to improve security performance.

As an Advanced Cyber Security Technician Apprentice you will experience, learn and develop key skills to help you manage complex projects across the Submarines business whilst also being involved in an exciting period of change and development in the IM&T function.
The Submarines Team: Our Submarines business has been safely delivering world class submarines to the UK Royal Navy for more than a century. The Astute class will equip the Royal Navy with its largest and most capable generation of attack submarines. We are responsible for the design, build, test and commissioning of these state-of-the-art vessels. In total, seven boats will make up the fleet, each weighing a mighty 7,400 tonnes. Dreadnought is the successor to the Vanguard class of nuclear deterrent submarines. We will deliver four submarines to the Royal Navy, with the first submarine entering service in the early 2030s. Dreadnought is widely considered to be one of the world’s most complex engineering challenges.

Many roles also require higher levels of National Security Vetting where applicants must typically have 5 to 10 years of continuous residency in the UK depending on the vetting level required for the role, to allow for meaningful security vetting checks.
