Salary: £47,683 – £52,426 depending on experience
What you’ll be doing:
- Applying your Weapon Integration experience & knowledge, you will be expected to lead and provide high quality engineering technical support within the Weapons Integration Engineering Team to your Section Lead and the Weapons Technical Authorities.
- Independently representing Weapons Integration in meetings involving BAES Line of Business (LOB) & Service Delivery Unit (SDU) organisations, European Partners, Suppliers, Customers and other stakeholders.
- Writing and reviewing requirements for weapon integration, qualification and testing. Also assessing, accepting and challenging supplier documents.
- Managing weapon test vehicle assets, in support of rig, aircraft ground and flight testing of particular weapons/stores.
- Writing loading and arming schedules, equipment Declarations of Design & Performance (G-DDP), safety assessments for the weapon in the platform environment, Weapon qualification statements, and also the ability to answer customer technical queries.
- Ensuring all tasks are performed in accordance with Weapons Engineering governance requirements in terms of process, format, quality including the necessary reviews and signatories.
Your skills and experiences:
Essential:
- Educated to a Degree Level in Aerospace Engineering or a related STEM subject.
- Experience in mission or flight systems engineering, preferably weapons integration or other equipment engineering experience (qualification of) and experience of the engineering lifecycle.
- Previous experience of working closely with Customers, Partners & Suppliers.
- Demonstrates excellent communication skills, as well as analytical and presentation skills.
Desirable:
- Embracing new technology and development of alternative approaches (i.e. faster/cheaper) to platform integration of weapons on in-service and future air platforms, including future ways of working, notably Enterprise Tasks – Management System (ETMS) and Model Based Systems Engineering.

The Weapons Integration team:
The Weapons Integration Team within the Flight Sciences Centre of Excellence, as part of the DDTE SDU (Design & Development Test & Evaluation Service Delivery Unit), provides an engineering delivery service to the Lines of Business for all Weapons Integration engineering deliverables on Typhoon/Tornado/Hawk/F-35/FCAS programmes. As a Senior Weapons Integration Engineer, you will have specific responsibility for delivering technical artifacts across the lifecycle of weapon integration qualification programmes, working closely with various stakeholders, such as Lines of Business, other Engineering Teams, Suppliers, Partners & Customers. The role will also involve working with the team and suppliers, supporting strategic discussions on improvements to the Weapons Integration process, as well as opportunities to support future platform weapons integrations.
This is an exciting role, where we are looking for a creative, adaptable and collaborative individual who is able to discharge work across the multiple contracts, and possibly support weapon integration on various platforms. Working closely and building good relationships with a wide range of stakeholders is key to this role. The role also requires a good systems engineering background, preferably with experience of weapons integration on aircraft development programmes. There is opportunity for further growth and development in this role if the candidate is keen to make steps towards becoming an Engineering Manager, through people management other team lead responsibilities.
