About you:
You might come from a number of different backgrounds: Academia; MoD; Defence Supplier; Commercial Communications or Sensing Organisation.
You will have a good network of relevant individuals from across MoD, User Communities, Defence Supply Chain and/or relevant commercial industry.
You will be able to influence MoD thinking on future requirements and technology selection.
You will have an engineering background and have experience of translating customer needs and operational context into solutions.
Skills/Experiences:
You will have a thorough understanding of the underpinning physics in testing and developing high power systems (power electronics and devices) in the area of directed energy.
You will have a good understanding of the mathematical modelling techniques used for the design and performance prediction in the fields of power electronics, power supplies, high power source design, RF effects, and a practical understanding of their use, limitations and manufacture.
You will understand how measurements are made, both as part of the development process and assessment.
You will know how to execute through the lifecycle from early concepts to demonstration and low rate production.
Activities:
Acting as a technical expert guiding and supervising the development of high-power sub-systems in the areas of directed energy.
Building relationships with customers and partners and helping to define and bid deliverable programmes.
Mentoring and developing teams of early career engineers in a fast paced and energetic environment.
