Overview

Job Title: Graduate Submarines Metrologist Engineer

Location: Barrow (Cumbria)

We offer relocation support packages for this role, subject to meeting eligibility criteria. We offer a range of hybrid and flexible working arrangements; however for this role you will be expected to attend your site 3-5 days per week.

Salary: £34,000 + £2,000 Welcome Bonus

Responsibilities

  • Building, integrating and testing bespoke instrumentation solutions where suitable commercial options aren’t available. Supporting novel research projects connected to advance and novel sensing (e.g. how to sense strain).
  • Supporting emergent site instrumentation projects identifying effective solutions to emerging problems related to metrology and calibration.
  • Installing, maintaining, and repairing in-service monitoring systems installed throughout the Barrow site (e.g. detecting and monitoring ionising and non-ionising radiation).
  • Helping to deploy, operate, and maintain monitoring systems used to support various manufacturing and trials activities across all submarine build programmes.
  • Managing data quality and integrity for manufacturing and trials instrumentation systems.

Qualification requirements

As a minimum requirement you’ll need to have obtained, or be predicted to obtain, a 2.2 in your Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Electronic Engineering, Control Engineering, Software Engineering, Physics, or Maths or relevant STEM degree (Biology or Chemistry).
