We have an exciting opportunity for a Mechanical Inspector to join our Advanced Manufacturing line of business based at Edinburgh Parks-SA, reporting to the Production Supervisor. This role is worked on the afternoon shift, with hours of 2:00pm – 10:30pm.
In this role, you will be responsible for inspecting precision-machined components using various methods, including coordinate measuring machines and manual techniques, to ensure they meet dimensional and acceptance standards. You will work closely with the Advanced Machining team to uphold these quality standards.
Key responsibilities include:
- Operating, setting up, and monitoring CMM machines efficiently.
- Conducting precise manual inspections with micrometres, calipers, height gauges, and other tools.
- Analysing engineering drawings, blueprints, and specifications to ensure accuracy.
- Documenting inspection data, generating detailed reports, and maintaining records.
- Supporting troubleshooting efforts to optimize CMM machine performance.
- Collaborating in daily production activities to reinforce safety, quality, cost control, delivery, and team culture.
- Adhering to safety policies, procedures, and risk assessments to ensure a safe work environment.
- Following setup procedures, performing quality control checks, and addressing non-conformities to maintain high quality standards.
- Engaging in daily business rhythm activities to support operational efficiency.
About You
- A Certificate III in Engineering – Mechanical Trade or recognised.
- Experienced in operating CMMs within a machining environment.
- Skilled in manual inspection techniques using micrometers, calipers, and height gauges.
- Proficient in interpreting engineering drawings and GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing).
- Capable of identifying and documenting non-conformances in production.
- Background in multi-axis CNC machining and producing high-precision components is highly desirable.
- Knowledgeable in calibration processes and inspection equipment maintenance.
- Experience using PC-DMIS is highly desirable.
- Experience in CMM programming and using GD&T to guide inspection is highly desirable.
- Defence security clearance or eligibility to obtain.
- Eligibility to be cleared for International Traffic In Arms (ITAR) regulations.
