Location: Barrow-in-Furness - Hybrid (3 days minimum on site dependent on business needs).

Salary: £41,000 - £49,000 (Commensurate with skills and experience)

What you'll be doing:

  • Assist the Power and Distribution Manager to ensure that all systems under their ownership are fully compliant with all Nuclear Safety Functional Requirements (NSFRs).
  • Ensure compliance with SIL (Safety Integrity Level) classifications for allocated PBSs (Product Breakdown Structure). Where a non‑compliance exists, ensure that an ALARP (As Low As Reasonably Practicable) statement is produced and approved by the Approving Authority and INA (Independent Nuclear Assurance).
  • Engage with stakeholders and as required host/attend UK/US technical forums conducting a transfer of information across the NSRP (Nuclear Steam Raising Plant) and ensuring that the TA (Technical Authority) merge joint LfE (Learning from Experience) into the EPS (Electrical Power System) design.
  • Responsible for ensuring that Dreadnought is designed in accordance with the End User Requirements as laid down by the Defence Nuclear Organisation.
  • Undertake build surveillance activities on the platform as agreed with the Joint Build Assurance working group, Principle Naval Overseer and ESO (Engineering System Owner).
  • Provide technical reviews and technical author compliance statements on all systems under the electrical power teams ownership.

This is a varied role in which the incumbent will have the ability to travel to other supplier sites. There are organised upskilling opportunities which are provided every year to the team.

Essential:

  • Must hold a BEng Degree in Electrical/Electronic Engineering.
  • Knowledge and demonstrated experience of IT systems.
  • Understanding of LV (Low Voltage).
  • CEng/IEng status or working towards.
  • Fully conversant with electrical conversion equipment.

This role is based within the Dreadnought Alliance within the Engineering Function, supporting the Dreadnought Programme and is a fantastic opportunity to join the Digital Alliance Electrical Power Team where you will work within an Alliance that sole purpose is to deliver the next generation of continuous at sea deterrent.

You will have the opportunity to engage with various stakeholders from industry and government, ensuring that clear communication is demonstrated at all times. You will also have the opportunity to visit supplier sites to manage Build Assurance through the monitoring of equipment to ensure quality and timescales are being adhered to. Further development opportunities are available through organised annual upskilling training.
