Salary: £65,000 - £75,000 dependent on skills and experiences plus bonus scheme.
For us, wargaming covers a spectrum of decision support activity. Depending on your skill set you may design or analyse wargames (or both); you will be involved in delivery, business development, engaging with stakeholders, and in supporting, or deputising for, the CORDA wargaming lead. This role could be full-time or part-time. A full-time role is likely to involve work on other types of decision support tasks within CORDA or Techmodal.
Security clearance: SC is not required on joining but you must be eligible for SC as a minimum.
What you’ll be doing:
- Designers
- Develop scenarios and design wargame Mechanics and Systems and oversee event management.
- Design and develop Wargames whilst overseeing Playtesting, Iterative Testing and Refinement.
- Analysts
- Lead discovery and research and define the Master Research Question and reporting requirements.
- Define the Data Collection and Analysis Plan (DCAP); ensure wargame design surfaces required data.
- Brief Data Capturers and manage In-Wargame Data Collection.
- Conduct analysis as per DCAP and author the first draft of the report.
Whether you are a designer or analyst you will also:
- Liaise with stakeholders.
- Deputise for the wargaming lead when required.
- Support business development and business winning.
- Horizon scan (particularly with respect to technology-based tools and aids).
Your skills and experiences:
- Knowledge of UK Defence in general and understanding of how a military headquarters operates through the various staff branches gained through an SO3/SO2 or similar appointment.
- Understanding of ConDev, CapDev and WarDev, and the role of Operational Analysis and Wargaming within those staff branches.
- Analysts should have a formal training in research and analysis, gained through M or PhD level academic studies, or military intelligence PME, or equally methodical and rigorous training.
- Designers should have experience of designing and structuring collective activities and events to fulfil a particular purpose.
- Completion of ICSC(L) or ACSC will be well-regarded.
- Experience of routinely and appropriately applying mission command and the CAKE principles of battle procedure to activity in any context.
- Experience in workshop facilitation and in dealing with clients/customers from a consulting perspective will be well regarded.
- Experience of wargaming to support geo-political and non-kinetic/violent scenarios will be well-regarded.
