Role Description: Key member of the Maintenance Management team within Asset Management. Responsible for producing accurate and optimised maintenance work packages using maintenance management toolsets, ensuring consistency through standardised processes and strong engineering governance. Applies technical experience, defect trend analysis and material state insights to improve maintenance accuracy, demand planning and future forecasting. Drives continuous improvement by refining processes, enhancing data integrity and contributing to toolset development to support the evolving needs of current and future customers.
Core Duties:
- Produce accurate, optimised and clearly defined maintenance work packages using Maintenance Management toolsets driven by source MMS data and approved technical documentation, ensuring compliance with maintenance policy, classification rules, statutory requirements and engineering governance.
- Support standardisation of work package development across Asset Management, using experience and practical knowledge to improve accuracy, optimise content, enhance clarity and evolve processes for current and future customers and business growth.
- Collaborate with Asset Management teams and Ship Delivery to produce accurate work packages with aligned and optimal demand plans.
- Monitor progress of released work packages, ensuring safe and correct completion, accurate recording in Maintenance Management toolsets and feeding insights into future planning cycles.
- Provide documentation and technical clarity to Asset Management Maintenance Engineers to ensure effective understanding and use of the work package product.
- Identify and report incorrect, inconsistent or outdated maintenance data across Maintenance Management toolsets and other technical documentation sources.
- Provide SME support and guidance to Maintenance Engineers and less experienced colleagues, supporting consistent and high‑quality outputs.
- Apply engineering governance consistently and support standardised processes across Asset Management.
- Drive continuous improvement by identifying better ways of working, solving problems proactively and refining processes to meet future business needs and emerging customer requirements.
Essential Skills:
- You’ll hold ONC, HNC, HND or Degree‑level education in an Engineering discipline, or have equivalent relevant working experience.
- You’ll have specialist engineering knowledge and experience in a relevant subject area (Mechanical or Electrical).
- You’ll have a working knowledge of the Engineering Lifecycle.
- You’ll be aware of and adhere to statutory regulations, including Information Systems, Safety, Health & Environment, and Security requirements.
- You’ll have experience using Maintenance Management Systems.
- You’ll be able to use the full suite of Microsoft Office toolsets.
- You’ll have knowledge of problem‑solving and Root Cause Analysis techniques.
- You’ll be able to build and continuously improve effective customer relationships and influence direction.
The Maintenance Management team: As a Senior Maintenance Engineer, you will be responsible for producing optimised work packages using scheduled information extracted from the Maintenance Management System and undertaking detailed root cause analysis of material state and failure trends, to enable work packages to be optimised. The role will provide you with the opportunity to work with various stakeholders both internally and externally. There will be opportunities for wider development within BAE Systems.
