As a Senior Software Engineer for Submarine Command System (SMCS) you will play a pivotal role shaping technical direction and delivering complex software for the fleet of UK Submarines. You will develop software solutions, ensuring they meet system performance, contractual requirements and applicable standards/regulations.
- Applying experience to take a support role in the design, implementation & testing of SMCS system solutions.
- Guiding and mentoring other Software Engineers in their efforts throughout the lifecycle.
- Assisting the management team with reporting, planning, and estimation activities.
- An Engineer with varied Software engineering knowledge, having demonstrated their ability across several development projects to design and deliver robust solutions in large multi-layered, distributed systems.
- Experience taking support strategies in a software development role.
- A good understanding of all aspects of a software lifecycle and good knowledge of software lifecycle models (e.g. waterfall, Agile).
The SMCS team sits at the heart of the Submarine Command System (SMCS) projects/programmes providing situation awareness (via Tactical Picture Compilation) and Weapons Management capability for all submarines in the Royal Navy flotilla.
