We are seeking a Senior Through-Life Support Engineer to help shape and deliver innovative support solutions for advanced air systems. The role focuses on developing digital support strategies and defining data-driven solutions that enhance the delivery of through-life services. Working across engineering and support functions, you will help ensure data and information are effectively managed, analysed and exploited to improve system availability, optimise performance and support long-term sustainment throughout the operational lifecycle of the platform.
Core duties
- Lead engagement with customers and industry subject matter experts to elicit, define and capture the digital capability requirements needed to underpin the Through-Life Support (TLS) solution.
- Lead the development, maintenance and delivery of the Through-Life Support Digital Strategy, driving the implementation of strategic objectives through the design and evolution of TLS solutions.
- Lead collaboration with system architects to develop model-based representations of the TLS digital ecosystem, ensuring alignment between operational, technical and support requirements.
- Drive the integration of the TLS Digital Strategy across wider programme activities, ensuring requirements for IT systems, digital infrastructure, data management, governance, technologies, and C2&I capabilities are identified, communicated and embedded.
- Lead the alignment of the TLS Digital Strategy with related programme, product and service development strategies to ensure a coherent and integrated approach.
- Lead and coordinate the activities of a small team, providing direction, supporting planning and review activities, and ensuring delivery of key milestones, outputs and programme objectives.
Essential Skills
- Degree qualified in a relevant STEM discipline (Engineering, Mathematics, Science, IT) or equivalent professional experience.
- Proven experience leading and coordinating teams, providing technical direction and driving delivery against strategic objectives.
- Demonstrable experience supporting and delivering digital transformation initiatives within complex engineering, technology or support environments.
- Strong ability to engage with stakeholders and translate customer requirements, operational needs and emerging technologies into clear strategies, roadmaps and implementation plans.
- Experience applying Data Management, Data Standards, Data Modelling, Data Engineering and Data Science principles, with an understanding of how data can be exploited to enhance support and service delivery.
- Knowledge of supportability and defence support frameworks, including experience with one or more of: UK MOD Knowledge in Defence (KiD), Support Solution Envelope 21 (SSE21), Integrated Logistics Support (Def-Stan, or ASD/AIA S-Series Integrated Product Support Specifications).
- Understanding of Model-Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) methodologies and tools, such as MooD, CAMEO, SysML or MagicGrid.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to influence, collaborate and lead across multidisciplinary teams and customer organisations.
