What you will be doing
As a Senior Product Safety Engineer you will support the Engineering Delivery Manager in the development, delivery and maintenance of the Project Product Safety Management System and Product Safety Case. Your work will ensure that products are safe to own, operate and maintain, while meeting all legal and regulatory requirements.
Core duties
- Develop, implement and maintain the Safety Management System, ensuring safety processes are robust, compliant and aligned with engineering and programme requirements.
- Support the production and maintenance of Project Safety Management Plans, ensuring safety activities are clearly defined and delivered throughout the project lifecycle.
- Undertake Product Safety hazard and risk identification, management and assessment activities, considering the environmental and operational challenges the product will be exposed to.
- Support the development of the Project Product Safety Case, including preparation of Safety Case Reports and clear, evidence-based technical safety arguments.
- Administer and manage the Project Hazard Log, ensuring hazards are identified, recorded, assessed and appropriately managed.
- Apply knowledge from a Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) degree or equivalent experience to interpret and analyse technical data and support safety activities across design, manufacturing, assembly, commissioning and testing phases of the submarine lifecycle.
- Complete peer reviews, checking, verification and assurance tasks to demonstrate the adequacy and robustness of the Project Safety Case and supporting documentation.

As a Product Safety Engineer within the team, you will help ensure the delivery of robust safety management processes and safety cases that enable products to be owned and operated safely throughout their lifecycle.
