Job Description:

We are seeking a Through-Life Support Engineer to help shape and deliver innovative support solutions for advanced air systems. The role focuses on developing digital support strategies and defining data-driven solutions that enhance the delivery of through-life services. Working across engineering and support functions, you will help ensure data and information are effectively managed, analysed and exploited to improve system availability, optimise performance and support long-term sustainment throughout the operational lifecycle of the platform.

Core duties:

  • Support engagement with customers and industry subject matter experts to capture, analyse and understand the digital capability requirements needed to underpin the Through-Life Support (TLS) solution.
  • Contribute to the development and maintenance of the Through-Life Support Digital Strategy, supporting activities that deliver the strategy's objectives through the design and implementation of TLS solutions.
  • Assist in the development of concepts and approaches for the application of digital technologies and data-driven capabilities within Through-Life Support environments.
  • Support workshops, use case development and stakeholder discussions to identify opportunities where digital transformation can optimise and improve support services compared with previous-generation platforms.
  • Work closely with system architects and engineering teams to develop model-based representations of the TLS digital ecosystem.
  • Support the integration of the TLS Digital Strategy with wider programme, product and service development activities, ensuring requirements relating to IT, digital infrastructure, technologies, C2&I, data management and governance are captured and communicated.
  • Contribute to ensuring alignment between the TLS Digital Strategy and other programme and business strategies.
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to support the delivery of digital transformation initiatives and through-life support capability development.

Essential Skills:

  • Degree qualified in a relevant STEM discipline (Engineering, Mathematics, Science or IT), or equivalent professional experience.
  • Experience supporting digital transformation initiatives within engineering, technology, defence or complex operational environments.
  • Experience working within a service delivery, product support or sustainment environment, ideally within aerospace, defence or another highly regulated industry.
  • Understanding of Data Management, Data Standards, Data Modelling, Data Engineering and Data Science principles, with an appreciation of how data can be leveraged to improve support and service delivery outcomes.
  • Knowledge of supportability and defence support frameworks, including experience with one or more of: UK MOD Knowledge in Defence (KiD), Support Solution Envelope 21 (SSE21), Integrated Logistics Support (Def-Stan 00-600), or ASD/AIA S-Series Integrated Product Support Specifications.
  • Awareness of Model-Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) methodologies and tools such as MooD, CAMEO, SysML or MagicGrid.

The Through Life Data Exploitation Team:

Join a growing team within our Air Sector that is shaping the future of Through-Life Support through digital transformation. The team is responsible for developing the digital strategies, architectures and solutions that will enable data-driven support services across the lifecycle of advanced air systems. Working at the intersection of engineering, support, data and technology, the team focuses on how information can be effectively captured, managed and exploited to optimise system availability, performance and sustainment outcomes.
