Role summary/ Job purpose

The Receptionist will be responsible for providing a warm welcoming environment for all visitors to the NBC including athletes, gym & badminton club members, museum guests, lodge guests and the Badminton England office team. The role requires someone who is customer focused, adaptable, and capable of handling a variety of tasks and works well in a team as well as on their own initiative.

Main responsibilities

Customer Service & Operational Management:

  • Create a warm, welcoming environment for all customers and team members
  • Provide excellent customer service to all guests – being open, friendly, confident and approachable
  • Proudly representing the Badminton England team, living our values and promoting a positive brand image
  • Handling transactions with ease and operating the cashless register efficiently
  • Answering the telephone/emails in a prompt, friendly efficient way in order to direct callers to the appropriate contact point for both the National Badminton Centre and Badminton England
  • Manage all members and visitors queries by resolving or escalating as necessary
  • Maintain an organised front desk area, ensuring it is always tidy and presentable
  • Assist with the daily operations of the National Badminton Centre, maintaining facilities and ensuring smooth functioning
  • Key Holder – assisting with the centre opening and closing on a shift basis
  • Carry out cleaning tasks in accordance with operational procedures and inhouse system – Opspal
  • Process transactions through square and ensuring accurate record keeping for sales and bookings
  • Book in conference room bookings
  • Place orders where relevant
  • Provision of administration support to other members of the team when required.

Compliance and Safety:

  • Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations across all areas of the building
  • Ensure emergency response readiness including assisting with the coordination of evacuations.
  • First Aid Qualified – complete accident/incident reports follow any First Aid incidents

Communication:

  • Contribute to effective handovers about your areas of responsibility.
  • Manage customer complaints, operational challenges, and sales inquiries efficiently.
  • Respond to all booking.com messages and reviews in a timely manner.
  • Foster a motivating work environment through living our BE values.
  • Actively encourage all lodge guests/potential lodge customers to book direct through the National Badminton Centre website.

Qualifications & Skills:

  • Team player, keen to develop ideas to improve our customer experiences
  • Strong customer service skills
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Ability to multitask and prioritise in a fast-paced environment
  • Great PC skills – ability to use a variety of software packages including excel

Additional Requirements:

  • First Aid certification (training provided if needed)
  • Flexibility to work evenings, weekends, and holidays as required

Other Duties

  • To comply with the requirements of Badminton England’s procedures and policies
  • To undertake such other duties as may be appropriate to achieve the objectives of the post (or as may be allocated)
