Overview
The Area Sales Manager is responsible for business development and all sales including Key Account Management across all market sectors and product lines.
Responsibilities
- Build relationships with existing and new customers by understanding their businesses and proactively provide solutions as well as establish new business potentials.
- Independent field sales with regular face-to-face customer meetings.
- Develop and implement strategic sales plans to achieve company objectives, sales KPIs and revenue targets.
- Maintain and grow key accounts and manage existing framework contact.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with key customers, partners, and stakeholders, ensuring a deep understanding of their needs and preferences.
- Foster a collaborative and inclusive team environment, promoting open communication, accountability, and a customer-centric mindset.
- Communicate daily with the UK sales team and attend UK sales meetings.
- Be professionally active on social media with relevant thought leadership and digital sales approaches.
- Present key sales presentations when required to customers at business conferences and events.
- Identify new business opportunities and market trends to capitalize on growth opportunities and track them in the CRM system.
- Collaborate cross-functionally with marketing, product development, and other departments to optimize sales strategies and enhance the customer experience.
- Support pre-sales requests, specifying products and technical configurations for various application needs.
- Prepare and issue quotations/proposals across various markets and multiple products, including liquid and gas detection.
- Record and progress sales opportunities, proactively follow up quotes with external sales and customers directly.
- Manage Salesforce cases; review, categorize and respond to queries, logging all correspondence on the customer account record.
- Stay up to date on industry trends, competitive landscape, and best practices in sales and sales leadership.
- Participate and report sales figures during local sales team meetings; document key order intake, notable sales developments, quotes, trials and forecastings.
- Attend and assist in the planning and execution of trade fairs and events.
- Handle customer complaints together with the customer support team.
- Participate in role-specific and recommended personal development training.
Education and Experience
- Bachelor's degree preferred, preferably in Electrical / Mechanical Engineering, Mechatronics, Automation Technology, Environmental Engineering or related field.
- 5 years or more of professional experience in a similar role.
- Demonstrable experience working with B2B customers, distributors, resellers and end users.
Skills
- Preferably experience and detailed knowledge in Water Quality and Gas Detection with view to enhance technical and practical skills for Municipal Water, Flow Instrumentation.
- Experience with the UK Water sector and industrial applications. Clean and Waste Water knowledge is desirable.
- Environmental and process knowledge – desirable.
- Intermediate knowledge of Microsoft Office and CRM software.
- Proven success producing business growth and working towards sales targets.
- Self-motivated, tenacious individual with excellent communication skills and strong customer service focus.
- Strong organizational and prioritizing skills.
- Essential experience with inside sales, quote and order process.
- Ability to engage, motivate, train customers and distributors.
