We are relentless in the pursuit of academic excellence, and we believe that through curriculum mastery and hard work, every student is capable of achieving well.
Bacon's is a thriving community that is welcoming of students and staff of all faiths, and those of none. The College has a strong ethos that is shared by all, and we deliberately and explicitly link the gospel of Christ with the daily life of the school through daily collective worship led by our college Chaplain. Bacon's College is part of United Learning, a large, and growing, group of schools aiming to offer a life-changing education to children and young people across England. United Learning is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of all children and young people and expects all staff and volunteers to share this commitment.
All positions are subject to an Enhanced Disclosure and Barring check from the Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) and shortlisted candidates will be subject to an online check. We always appoint on merit, and we are open to discussing flexible working options. Bacon’s has long been an important part of the fabric of the local community in South East London and has served the community in its various forms for over three hundred years. We are proud of that history and determined to meet the needs of students today and tomorrow.
The school joined United Learning in 2018 and has gone from strength to strength since. Bacon’s is a thriving community that is welcoming of students of all faiths and those of none. Staff and students value the distinctive nature of its Christian ethos to which every member of our community contributes. Our values are courage, compassion, respect, faith and integrity.
We are fortunate to offer fantastic media, DT and IT facilities and excellent sporting provision. Learning is at the heart of everything we do. Part of our mission statement is that ‘students are exhorted to achieve academic and personal excellence’. We have the highest aspirations for our students, determined that anyone can achieve highly and overcome any barriers that may lie in their path. We do not apologise for insisting that all students behave well and work hard.
Bacon’s achievements were recognised by Ofsted in June 2022 when we received a grading of ‘Good’ overall and in every area. In 2025 we enjoyed strong GCSE outcomes with 52% of students achieving grade 5+ in English and Maths. Our VI form results were excellent with 65% of A Level grades at A*-B. This is an exciting time to be joining Bacon’s as we seek to continuously improve and be a great school in every respect.

In art, for example, every student in Y11 last year achieved at least a grade 5 in GCSE.
The successful candidate will be joining a highly collaborative and cohesive team that gets regular professional development and plenty of support from within the department as well as from the school as a whole.
