The library is the heart of the school’s learning community, providing a place where students of all abilities feel comfortable and can access learning resources. The librarian will act as the subject specialist for inquiry and research, supporting critical, information, technology and multimodal literacy across the curriculum.
- Consult teaching staff (typically Curriculum Leaders) to identify resource needs and ensure the library’s holdings remain relevant.
- Advise staff on temporary resources available from external providers and assist with particular projects.
- Develop and promote library services that align with the school’s academic and personal excellence goals.
- Provide guidance to students and staff on research skills, information evaluation and digital literacy.
- Work collaboratively with the wider school team to integrate library resources into teaching and learning.
About You
- Experienced academic librarian, preferably holding a Degree and/or Diploma in Librarianship accredited by CILIP (Chartered Institute of Library and Information Professionals).
- Previous experience working in a school library environment, familiar with school library filing systems.
- Strong understanding of curriculum needs and ability to support teachers in developing resource-rich lessons.
- Excellent communication skills and a collaborative, student‑centred working style.
- Commitment to safeguarding and protecting children and young people.
