Fun Factory, Back of the Net Wakefield & Cross Bar is an exciting and growing leisure destination serving the local community. The business initially opened in June 2025 with state‑of‑the‑art 3G football pitches, followed by the opening of Cross Bar in December 2025. We are now entering the final phase of our development with the launch of the Fun Factory soft play centre and a brand‑new kitchen facility. Our venue combines sport, entertainment, food, and family fun, creating a unique destination for families, sports teams, and the wider community.
The Role
We are looking for an enthusiastic and experienced Assistant Chef Manager to support the Head Chef in the day‑to‑day operation of our kitchen. This is a hands‑on role that combines food preparation and service with responsibility for maintaining standards, supporting team development, and helping to deliver an excellent customer experience.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist in the preparation and cooking of high‑quality food to a consistently high standard.
- Support the Head Chef with the daily operation and organisation of the kitchen.
- Ensure food is prepared, presented, and served efficiently during busy service periods.
- Maintain exceptional standards of food hygiene, health and safety, and cleanliness.
- Assist with stock control, stock rotation, ordering, and waste management.
- Support the recruitment, training, and development of kitchen team members.
- Help ensure quality, presentation and service standards are maintained at all times.
- Manage preparation schedules effectively to ensure timely food service.
- Maintain a clean, organised, and safe working environment.
- Act as a role model for professionalism, teamwork and customer service.
What We’re Looking For
- Previous experience working within a kitchen, catering or hospitality environment is essential.
- Experience supervising or supporting a kitchen team is desirable.
- A passion for producing great food and delivering excellent customer service.
- Strong communication and teamwork skills.
- The ability to remain calm and organised in a fast‑paced environment.
- Good knowledge of food hygiene, food safety, health and safety requirements.
- Excellent organisational and time management skills.
- A positive attitude, strong work ethic and willingness to learn and develop others.
- Flexible and reliable approach to working hours, including evenings and weekends where required.
