We are seeking a reliable and skilled Class 2 Hiab Driver to join our team. Hiab experience preferred but not essential. The ideal candidate will be responsible for transporting goods safely and efficiently while ensuring excellent customer service. This role requires effective communication skills, a strong understanding of vehicle operation, and the ability to navigate various routes. You will be working out of Cullompton, so own transport is required. You will need to be clean shaven on commencement of this role due to health and safety regulations. You will undertake regular training in a classroom environment including Shea gas training. Clam shell training will also be given. Other training will be given as required. Expected hours are Monday to Friday. O/T available. This is an ongoing contract with possible temp to perm opportunities.
Duties:
- Operate a lorry in compliance with all traffic laws and regulations.
- Transport goods safely and efficiently to designated locations.
- Use a Hiab to load/unload vehicle.
- Conduct pre-trip and post-trip inspections of the vehicle to ensure safety and maintenance standards are met.
- Maintain accurate logs of working hours, vehicle service, and deliveries made.
- Communicate effectively with dispatchers and clients regarding delivery schedules and any issues that may arise during transit.
- Follow health and safety procedures.
- Adhere to all company policies and procedures related to transportation and safety.
Skills:
- Proven experience as a delivery driver or in commercial driving roles.
- Proficient in operating lorries and understanding load securing techniques.
- Strong navigational skills with the ability to read maps and use GPS technology effectively.
- Excellent time management skills to ensure timely deliveries.
- Ability to work independently as well as part of a team.
- Strong communication skills for effective interaction with clients and team members.
- A valid commercial driving licence (class C) is essential, along with a clean driving record.
- Hiab experience preferred.
