They are now seeking an experienced Gardener / Horticulturist to join their gardening team, as a Team leader. Excellent attention to detail is essential of the care of their stunning array of projects. Their gardens which are spread out across Central London and west London require a trained eye to deliver the extra 1% to what their clients expect.
You must have substantial, demonstrated experience and understanding of leading a team and hold relevant qualifications in horticulture/landscaping/arboriculture. A proactive, enthusiastic, and diligent attitude, together with exceptional communication and horticulture skill are essential for the upkeep, development and nurturing of gardens, which you will be responsible for as a Team Leader.
In addition to communicating with clients and designers on a regular basis, you will also report to the Horticulture Manager to provide feedback on the quality, health and development of gardens, voice concerns, and present ideas, proposals and action plans to guarantee the best possible care and service.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist with the installation of new planting projects as needed.
- Carry out regular plant maintenance, including watering and care of both indoor and outdoor plants and trees.
- Identify and treat plant pests and diseases, prioritizing biological methods where possible.
- Prune and remove dead or unhealthy plant material as required.
- Perform seasonal pruning and general upkeep of planting areas.
- Replace any failed plants to maintain high-quality planting schemes.
- Liaise with clients to ensure all contractual obligations are met.
- Report any issues or concerns observed during maintenance visits.
- Provide holiday cover for colleagues when necessary.
Essential Requirements
- Valid UK drivers licence
- Strong knowledge of plants, planting techniques, and plant care.
- Experience in pest and disease identification and treatment.
- Familiarity with standard gardening tools and equipment.
- Previous experience working with plants in both small and large-scale project environments.
- Good understanding of soft landscaping principles.
- Excellent communication skills and professionalism when dealing with clients.
- Ability to work flexibly and adapt to the needs of the company.
- A Level 2 RHS Horticulture, Arboriculture qualification, or a similar relevant qualification in horticulture, landscaping, garden design, or arboriculture.
Desirable Skills & Qualifications
- CSCS Card (Construction Skills Certification Scheme)
- Valid first aid certificate.
