The Opportunity
Reporting directly into the Financial Controller, the Finance Assistant is a vital member of the Finance function and plays a pivotal role in the smooth operation of the financial processes.
Responsibilities
From assisting with day to day accounting tasks, to supporting the Financial Controller in payroll and audit processes, this role is instrumental in contributing towards the accuracy, efficiency and integrity of the financial operations of the business. Responsibilities include:
Accounting
- Accurately process all sales and purchase invoices, ensuring all documentation and approvals
- Process and management of staff expenses, ensuring these are within policy and properly logged
- Process all incoming & outgoing payments, including reconciling bank statements and petty cash
- Provide credit control management by monitoring and chasing outstanding sales invoices
- Creating payment run for purchase invoices on a weekly basis
- Regularly reviewing PO system and ensuring the accuracy and close down status of each
- Ensuring sales invoices are paid on time
Data Entry & Bookkeeping
- Process financial transactions, maintain ledgers (sales, purchase and nominal) and update accounting systems Reporting & Audit
- Create reports for senior management, including
- View of jobs where sales invoices arent yet raised
- Outstanding sales invoices
- Aging debtors and aging creditors reports
General Administrative duties
- Maintaining financial records, scanning documents, and other administrative duties to support the Finance Team
- Stakeholder Engagement
- Answering queries from the wider business, including purchase and sales queries
- Actively participating in the ongoing continuous improvement of the Finance team and support provided to senior management and the wider business, including process improvements
- Provide cover for the Financial Controller when they are away/out of the office
The Candidate
As Finance Assistant, youll be a solid pair of hands with proven experience in a similar role and perhaps an interest in stepping up in the future.
Essential
- AAT qualified (or currently studying towards) so current with global finance laws and processes.
- Basic Accounting Knowledge: Understanding of fundamental accounting concepts and double-entry bookkeeping
- Data Entry and Software Proficiency: Experience with accounting software and data entry
- Attention to Detail: Accuracy in recording and processing financial information
- Communication Skills: Ability to communicate effectively with colleagues and external parties
- Organisation Skills: Managing multiple tasks and deadlines effectively
- Teamwork: Working collaboratively with other members of the finance team
- High analytical skills with a great attention to detail and accuracy is essential
Desirable
- Experience with AccountsIQ accounting software
- Knowledge of UK financial regulations and compliance requirements
Terms
- The role is offered on a permanent, part or full time basis.
- The role is seeking a minimum of 30 hrs (over 5 days) up to full time (35 hrs).
- A competitive salary of £29k-34k fte* is on offer depending on experience.
- The role is based in Tring with hybrid working an option (3 office, 2 home).
