Our Client
Our client is a consulting engineering practice. A well established business, they have been operating for 21+ years. They have specialist knowledge of all in building services and are based in Dunstable.

The Role
Our Client is looking for an experienced bookkeeper who will be responsible for maintaining the business's financial transactions. They will be responsible for the first part of the accounting process, which involves organizing and recording financial data. Engaging with Clients and arranging for invoices to be raised in relation to the general projects.

Responsibilities

  • Record transactions: Collect and record financial transactions, such as purchases, expenses, sales, and payments.
  • Invoices: Produce invoices.
  • Credit Control: Chase overdue payments. Our primary Client pays on time without prompting, there are a small number of lesser Clients that need prompting from time to time. This is a small part of the role.
  • Organize records: Store financial records in ledgers, spreadsheets, and databases.
  • Reconcile statements: Compare financial records to ensure accuracy and report any discrepancies.
  • VAT submission: Reviewing the quarterly VAT information provided by accountants.
  • Project co-ordination: Engagement with Team for Utility projects.
  • Management Accounts: provide monthly information for management report to accountants.
  • Quarterly reports: Review the quarterly reports information provided by accountants with Directors.
  • Annual accounts: Responsible for engaging with the accountants and reviewing, coordinating the annual accounts with Directors.

The Candidate
Our client is looking for a candidate with similar experience, who will ideally be able to demonstrate:

  • AAT Level 1/2/3 in Bookkeeping
  • Data entry skills
  • Understanding of accounting principles
  • Experience with spreadsheets and bookkeeping software (QuickBooks)

The Terms
The successful candidate will work at our client's offices in Dunstable and will be directly responsible to the Directors and wider support team. Hours will be 20 hours per week, 4 hours per day Monday to Friday. As the successful candidate becomes familiar with the role and the company's requirements, there may be openness to agree more flexible working arrangements. Holiday entitlement would be 20 days and 8 days bank holiday pro rata. 1st January to 31st December. Nest Pension scheme. Salary £35,000 up to £37,500 pro-rata depending on experience.
