Senior Design Engineer
Provide Engineering & design solutions from work winning concept phase to practical completion of projects with the common goal to win projects and to increase site net margin.
- What You’ll Be Doing
- Deliver competitive designs (holistic rather than simply pile element).
- Ensure design efficiency and buildability.
Take full accountability for creating designs that are not only efficient, but also practical and buildable, with input from collaboration with the operational teams.
- Provide technical and design support to all BSL departments and be fully integrated to the estimating teams and operational teams to aid their performance.
- Analyse the project input in order to interrogate it, reach an agreement and integrated in a design solution.
- Design on performance‑based approach, observational approach rather than compliance approach.
- Contribute to deliver technical handover to operational teams. Define pre‑agreed mitigations (anticipation vs reaction).
- Attend external meetings with Clients.
- Manage internal and external clients’ expectations.
- Embrace, promote positively and meet KPI set out by the Engineering Manager.
- Contribute to the continued improvement of the Engineering process within the department.
- Assist the new techniques PM to develop the innovations.
- Train Design and Engineering colleagues and to a certain extent broader organisation members. Share ideas.
- Conduct benchmarking studies to determine best practices/designs and future trends.
- Engage and receive feedback from estimating teams and operational teams for the purpose of continuous improvement.
