About Us

Dymax, part of the Bachmann Chemical & Engineering family of brands, is based out of Torrington, Connecticut. Dymax is globally recognized as a pioneer in the development of light-curable adhesives and curing equipment. Today, our expansive portfolio of innovative adhesives, coatings, and maskants are supported by dispense solutions and cutting‑edge UV and LED light‑curing equipment. Unlike our competitors who supply standard products, Dymax focuses on the customer experience by tailoring solutions that help customers lower costs, reduce their carbon footprint, improve efficiency, and drive profitability.

About You

We’re seeking a results-focused, innovative, self-driven, and well-qualified individual to join our talented team as our Process Engineer II. In this role, you will strengthen manufacturing efficiency, product quality, and process reliability by developing, documenting, and improving chemical manufacturing processes under defined methods; executing new‑product scale‑ups and process validations; analyzing OEE and FPY drivers; and preparing data-driven recommendations that raise throughput, reduce variation, and stabilize equipment performance across production.

Key Responsibilities

  • Improve production efficiency and process flow across adhesive manufacturing lines by analyzing cycle times, changeover losses, and bottlenecks, applying lean and basic Six Sigma tools, and implementing workflow and setup changes that lift Overall Equipment Effectiveness (OEE) while protecting safety and quality targets.
  • Execute scale‑up activities that transition new and revised products into production by preparing process parameters, trial plans, and run sheets; coordinating pre‑launch trials and data capture; and confirming stable performance against yield, cost, and specs prior to release.
  • Apply mixing and dispersion science to achieve repeatable batch performance by selecting impeller types and speeds, controlling addition sequences and temperatures, and documenting set points that improve material homogeneity, batch‑to‑batch consistency, and resource utilization.
  • Standardize critical processes to protect First Pass Yield (FPY) and product quality by creating and updating work instructions and control plans, running Statistical Process Control (SPC), and implementing adjustments that maintain capabilities and minimize nonconformances.
  • Perform process validation to defined acceptance criteria and documentation standards by executing protocols, collecting and analyzing results, and compiling complete, traceable records that demonstrate conformance to internal and ISO quality-system requirements.
  • Resolve process-related customer issues with durable, evidence-based actions by conducting root cause analysis, implementing corrective changes to parameters or work orders, verifying effectiveness through targeted re‑tests, and closing records within agreed timelines.
  • Maintain accurate technical documentation and change traceability for processes by producing flow diagrams, PFMEAs, and control plans; updating validation files; and submitting controlled changes that align bills of material, work instructions, and route steps.

You should have:

  • 5+ years in chemical manufacturing or process engineering; adhesives experience preferred.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Chemical or Manufacturing Engineering (or equivalency).
  • Proficiency in enterprise systems; JD Edwards E1 desirable; SPC/BI tools for analysis.
  • Lean and Six Sigma methods; process validation; PFMEA; control plans; technical writing.
  • Regular time on the manufacturing floor; standing/walking; occasional lift to ~35 lb; PPE use.
  • Manufacturing plant environment with hands‑on shop‑floor and office work.
  • Up to 10% travel for cross‑site coordination or vendor support.
  • Limited exposure to chemicals and processing equipment; adhere to safety procedures.
  • Analytical, organized, and time‑disciplined communicator with strong follow‑through.
