Job Summary
Reporting to the Technical Service Group Manager and working within the Information Technology team, the role will support the delivery of the bank’s IT strategy through the configuration, operation, and management of IT systems and proactive collaboration with the bank’s technology teams.
Key Work Outputs and Accountabilities
- Act in a junior capacity within the TSG department, provide 2nd line support to resolve simple/intermediate infrastructure issues.
- Monitor system performance and operations as guided by TSG senior staff. Responding to alerts, ensuring system stability and maximum uptime.
- Ensure robust infrastructure security is maintained, performing system hardening under instruction, and managing critical data backups and disaster recovery plans according to established procedures.
- Creating technical documentation for projects and assisting in upgrading, installing, and configuring hardware and software.
- Manage virtual and cloud environments as instructed by TSG senior staff.
Required Qualifications and Experience
Knowledge- Educated to a degree level (or equivalent) ideally in computer science or a related field. We also welcome applications from candidates who are currently pursuing such qualifications.
- Familiar with the Microsoft stack including desktops, servers and cloud services.
- Understanding of Patching and Vulnerability management.
- Familiarity with internationally recognised IT Security standards and frameworks such as Cyber Essentials, NIST, or ISO27001/2.
- Ticket management: Act as the first point of contact for the TSG department, resolve, monitor, and escalate tickets and ticket queues.
- Systems Administration: Installing, configuring, and managing server hardware and operating systems, based on BACB standards and practices.
- Networking Knowledge: An understanding of DNS, DHCP, firewalls.
- Cloud & Virtualization: Familiarisation with VMware, and Azure cloud environments.
- Infrastructure Management: Monitoring system health, applying patches, and maintaining backups.
- Security & Compliance: Ensuring infrastructure adheres to security protocols.
- Troubleshooting: Apply analytical expertise, close attention to detail and critical thinking to problem solving.
- Microsoft Office: Effectively utilise core MS Office systems (Word, Excel, Outlook etc.).
- Collaboration: Work effectively and efficiently across all departments.
- A keen interest in IT and a desire to build expertise in infrastructure technologies.
- An ability and desire to acquire new technical skills, possibly with self-study.
- Good oral and written communication skills.
- Good inter-personal skills with a proven ability to build relationships, communicate and persuade others.
- Good time management skills with the ability to prioritise work to meet deadlines.
