  • Job Summary

The Data Delivery Project Manager will act as a delivery-focused Project Manager to lead key data and analytics initiatives, including the Enterprise Data Lake, Business Intelligence (BI) platform, and Data Governance framework.

The role requires strong project governance, stakeholder and vendor management, financial oversight, and experience delivering data-related change in a regulated environment using tools such as Azure Dev Ops and Jira.

  • Key Work Outputs and Accountabilities
  • Project Delivery

Lead cross-functional teams through the full project lifecycle, from initiation to closure, ensuring that all project objectives are met within scope, budget, and timeline.

Develop and maintain detailed project plans, including schedules, resource allocation, risk management, and communication strategies, to ensure transparency and accountability.

Establish and maintain a robust enterprise-wide project governance framework, including reporting, and RAID (Risks, Assumptions, Issues, Dependencies) management, with clear ownership and regular review through Azure Dev Ops and/or Jira.

Agile or hybrid delivery methods, including sprint planning, backlog refinement, delivery coordination, and technical stakeholder engagement.

Drive adherence to PMO standards, regulatory requirements, and internal controls.

Independently lead project management responsibilities for all Data related projects end to end, including implementation of Purview for data classification and retention.

Vendor & Financial Management

Act as the primary interface with vendors delivering data platform components.

Oversee vendor performance, ensuring compliance with SLAs and contractual obligations.

Manage financial governance: track budgets, validate invoices, monitor cost-to-completion, and report variances.

Support procurement processes, including RFPs, So Ws, and contract negotiations.

Stakeholder Engagement

Build strong relationships with senior business stakeholders, technology teams, and external partners.

Provide clear, concise project updates to steering committees and executive sponsors.

Facilitate decision-making and resolve conflicts across multiple workstreams.

Planning & Risk Management

Monitor project progress, proactively identifying and mitigating risks, and addressing issues as they arise to ensure successful project delivery.

Support agile data delivery by coordinating sprint planning, stand-ups, dependency management, testing readiness, and go-live activities across business and technical teams.

  • Data Lake
  • Knowledge and delivery experience of Data-related environments and tools, including awareness of platform Snowflake or similar.
  • Develop and maintain an approved data lake delivery plan, with clearly defined milestones, dependencies, risks, and accountable owners.
  • Ensure successful delivery of data lake initiatives within agreed time, cost, and scope parameters, and in line with business and technical requirements.
  • Coordinate the onboarding of priority data sources into the data lake on the Snowflake platform, ensuring alignment with agreed sequencing, quality standards, and business priorities.
  • Work collaboratively across business, data, engineering, architecture, and vendor teams to ensure delivery remains coordinated and aligned.
  • Support the embedding of data quality, control, and governance requirements throughout the implementation lifecycle.
  • Oversee testing, release readiness, and implementation planning for each phase of data lake delivery.
  • Track and communicate delivery outcomes and benefits, demonstrating how the data lake supports reporting, analytics, and strategic decision-making.
  • Enterprise BI (Power BI)
  • Knowledge and delivery experience of Data-related environments and tools, including awareness of platform Power BI or similar.
  • Deliver the implementation of an enterprise-wide BI platform to support consistent analytics and reporting.
  • Coordinate the rollout of unified reporting capabilities that improve access to trusted management information.
  • Work with business and technical stakeholders to define BI requirements and prioritise reporting needs.
  • Ensure the BI platform enables effective decision-making through timely, accurate, and actionable insights.
  • Support the adoption of Power BI as the strategic reporting and visualisation tool across the organisation.
  • Oversee delivery activities related to BI development, testing, release readiness, and stakeholder engagement.
  • Governance
  • Deliver the implementation of the enterprise data governance framework, ensuring clear ownership, accountability, and decision-making across data domains.
  • Coordinate governance activities across business, data, technology, risk, and compliance stakeholders to support consistent adoption of policies, standards, and controls.
  • Maintain delivery plans for governance initiatives, including milestones, dependencies, risks, actions, and stakeholder commitments.
  • Support the rollout of data ownership, stewardship, and data quality practices to improve control, transparency, and trust in data assets.
  • Ensure governance requirements are embedded into data lake and BI delivery, including lineage, controls, classification, and policy adherence.
  • Provide governance reporting and updates to relevant forums, committees, and senior stakeholders, escalating issues and decisions where required.
  • Technical Awareness
  • Utilise good working knowledge of data platforms and delivery tooling, including Snowflake, Power BI, Azure Dev Ops, and Jira to translate technical activity into clear delivery plans and status reporting.
  • Demonstrable ability to use Azure Dev Ops and/or Jira to manage delivery plans, backlogs, dependencies, and governance.
  • Ensure technical decisions align with enterprise standards and security/compliance requirements.
  • Required Qualifications and Experience
  • Knowledge & Experience
  • 5+ years of project management experience, including at least 3 years delivering data, reporting, analytics, or data platform initiatives in a regulated or complex environment.
  • Proven experience managing vendors and multi-million-pound budgets in complex environments.
  • Strong knowledge of project governance frameworks and agile data management, including backlog prioritisation, sprint-based delivery, dependency tracking, and governance using Azure Dev Ops and/or Jira.
  • Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills, including executive-level reporting.
  • Strong financial management skills: forecasting, cost control, and benefits tracking.
  • Preferred Tools / Ways of Working
  • Experienced and comfortable using Azure Dev Ops and/or Jira to manage delivery backlogs, sprint boards, dependencies, and action tracking.
  • Experience working in agile or hybrid delivery models, with practical involvement in sprint planning, stand-ups, backlog refinement, and delivery governance.
  • Confident producing and maintaining RAID logs, milestone plans, status reports, and steering updates for data-related initiatives.
  • Ability to work effectively with business, data, technology, and vendor teams to coordinate delivery across multiple workstreams.
  • Preferred exposure to regulated banking or financial services environments, with awareness of governance, control, and change management expectations.

Qualifications and Certifications

  • Degree or equivalent experience in Business, Information Technology, Data, Finance, or a related discipline.
  • Relevant certifications such as PRINCE2, PMP, Agile PM, Scrum, or equivalent are advantageous.
  • Tool and platform awareness across Azure Dev Ops, Jira, Snowflake, and Power BI, with the ability to operate confidently at a project delivery and governance level.
  • Nice to Have/ Desirable
  • Experience in regulated industries (e. g., banking, financial services).
  • Familiarity with Azure data services (ADLS Gen2, Purview).
  • Professional certifications: PMP, PRINCE2 Practitioner, Agile PM, or equivalent.
