Overview
Bacardi – Engineering Support (CAD) Technician, Glasgow, United Kingdom. This role focuses on delivering engineering support across multiple sites within the Spirits Engineering department, with strong emphasis on document management and CAD drawing maintenance.
Responsibilities
- Implement and manage an effective document management process for the UKSC Engineering Team.
- Develop and maintain engineering drawings – P&IDs, GA drawings, electrical, gas, schematics, site drawings; update drawings as required and ensure drawing registers are accurate and controlled.
- Custodian of all Spirits Engineering Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), Work Instructions (WIs), and Risk Assessments (RAs).
- Assist with projects from concept and design through to implementation, testing and final handover, ensuring asset drawings and registers reflect changes.
- Recommend and advise on engineering process improvements to support continuous improvement activities across the engineering function.
- Assist in developing the engineering team in line with current and future resourcing needs; act as custodian of departmental CTMS and skills matrix.
- Assist where required, liaise with and support external suppliers/contractors. Support PTW requirements for contractor work (maintenance and projects).
- Support the Spirits Maintenance Manager and Spirits Maintenance Coordinator where required.
- Suggest improvements to ensure the smooth and efficient running of assets; participate in Lean Manufacturing and continuous improvement processes relevant to maintenance excellence.
- Maintain work area to 5S standards and ensure a safe and effective condition; be aware of relevant team KPIs and contribute to improvements.
- Participate in training for personal development and, where applicable, CompEx capability with knowledge of ATEX and DSEAR regulations.
- Be proactive on the shop floor, monitor trends and respond with effective solutions; adhere to Health and Safety regulations and strive to eliminate hazards.
Skills And Experience
Educational Requirements
- Formal engineering qualification (HNC / HND, or similar).
- Highly proficient in the use of CAD packages.
Experience
- Maintenance of P&ID and GA drawings on CAD packages.
- Documentation management processes – preferably within a production/operational environment.
- Working knowledge of Computerised Maintenance Management Systems (CMMS).
- Proficient in MS Office.
- Experience creating technical documents and reports.
- Experience in FMCG/spirts industry preferred; understanding/experience of operations within a hazardous environment (ATEX/DSEAR).
- Understanding of regulatory standards (PSSR, LOLER, PUWER, etc.) and continuous improvement methods (LEAN/ FMECA/ TPM).
- Ability to build networks and provide support across a multi-site business; experience managing teams preferred but not essential.
